Production and Research & Development are conducted in more than 20 different countries. The largest R&D centre is based in Biberach Germany.

Today Boehringer-Ingelheim Ireland employs 51 personnel comprising of sales, marketing, medical, and administrative teams. The medical team play an important role conducting clinical trial programmes in Ireland.

We also have Animal Health and Consumer Health teams responsible for sales of animal health and healthcare products that do not require prescriptions.

In 2008, worldwide we had sales of €11.6 billion which showed a 6% increase on 2007.
We re-invested €2.1billion in research and development (R&D). This corresponds to an R&D quota of 22% of net sales in Prescription Medicines.
